In
1993, the island of Lanzarote was declared a Biosphere
Reserve as it conserves one of the most exceptional
ecosystems and volcanic landscapes in the Canary Islands.
This beautiful volcanic island of Lanzarote was a perfect
choice for the Meditation Retreat.
The best part of this
workshop was that each one of us came from a different
country. There were 7 participants from 7 different
countries. The unity in diversity amongst the participants
lived up to the yogic teachings of equal vision.
The meditation workshop
aimed at introducing the participants to the theory,
practice, types and benefits of meditation. The approach
was to make the participants fit in meditation and yoga
as a part of their lives.
The day began with
an early morning Asana class on the beach. The sun,
sand, sea and soul merged together through the Asana
sequence designed specially to equalize and balance
the energy flow and to stabilize the spirit.
This
was followed by an hour of Karma Yoga, delicious lunch
– mostly Indian curry preparations by Nimmi.
Afternoons were spent either in lectures, story telling,
dancing and drumming, debate and discussions or just
exploring the mysteries of the island.
Workshops on self
massage, aqua workouts, silent meditative walks brought
us more closer to ourselves.
The cool evenings were perfect to ground ourselves in
an intense meditative practice followed by chanting,
lecture and question answer sessions.
